Offiziell: Newcastle United zu 100 % verkauft – „Geduldige Investoren“ aus Saudi-Arabien - Transfermarkt

Premier League stimmt zu 

Die seit 2007 andauernde Ära Mike Ashley bei Newcastle United ist beendet. Nun gibt es neue Besitzer der „Magpies“. Am Donnerstag bestätigte zuerst die Premier League die Genehmigung zur Übernahme des Klubs durch ein Konsortium um den saudischen Investmentfonds „Public Investment Fund“ (PIF). Anschließend machte der Klub die einhundertprozentige Übertragung der Anteile an PIF, PCP Capital Partners sowie RB Sports & Media bekannt.

„Die Investmentgruppe besteht aus langfristigen, geduldigen Investoren, die vollstes Vertrauen in den zukünftigen Erfolg des Klubs haben“, schrieb der NUFC am Donnerstag auf der Klubwebseite. „Die heutige Ankündigung ist der Abschluss eines gründlichen und detaillierten Prozesses, der es der Investmentgruppe ermöglicht hat, eine Vereinbarung zu treffen, die allen Interessengruppen zugutekommt und Newcastle United in eine gute Position bringt, um eine klare, langfristige Strategie zu verfolgen.“

Als Kosten für die Übernahme sind dem Vernehmen nach rund 350 Millionen Euro fällig. Die Investorengruppe, die von der britischen Geschäftsfrau Amanda Staveley angeführt wird, hatte ihr Angebot ursprünglich in diesem Juli zurückgezogen.

Sorge über saudische Kontrolle: Konsortium als „vom Staat getrennt“ betrachtet

Voraussetzung für die Zustimmung der Premier League war, dass der Verein nach der Übernahme, den die Mehrheit der NUFC-Anhänger befürworten soll, nicht unter der Kontrolle Saudi-Arabiens steht. Der öffentliche Investmentfonds des Landes soll zwar 80 Prozent am Konsortium halten und wäre somit Mehrheitseigner des Vereins. Zudem ist der saudische Kronprinz Mohammed bin Salman, dem schwere Menschenrechtsverletzungen vorgeworfen werden, der einflussreichste Mann des Fonds. Wie der Sender „BBC“ zuvor berichtete, soll der Fonds aber als „vom Staat getrennt“ betrachtet werden, womit eine Übernahme aus Premier-League-Sicht zulässig wurde.

Zuvor hatte Saudi-Arabien im Streit mit dem katarischen Fernsehsender „BeIN Sports“ eingelenkt. „BeIN Sports“, als Rechteinhaber für die Region ein mächtiger Partner der Premier League, hatte dem saudischen Kanal „BeoutQ“ vorgeworfen, illegal internationale Sportveranstaltungen zu übertragen und das Programm des katarischen Senders zu stehlen. Bundesliga, FIFA und UEFA hielten die Vorwürfe aufgrund einer Studie für belegt. Gleichzeitig hatte Saudi-Arabien „BeIN Sports“ eine Sendegenehmigung im Land verweigert. Ob die Beilegung des Streits für die Einigung über die Übernahme eine Rolle gespielt hat, ist unklar.
