［ヘルシンキ　１９日　ロイター］ - 米航空宇宙局（ＮＡＳＡ）は、月面に初めて通信ネットワークを構築する企業にフィンランドの通信機器大手ノキア (HE:)を選んだ。ノキアが１９日発表した。

ＮＡＳＡは２０２４年までに再び人を月に送り込み、人類が月面に滞在することを目指すアルテミス計画を進めている。

ノキアは、宇宙で初めてとなる無線ブロードバンドシステムについて、有人月面再着陸より前の２２年末に構築すると説明した。

テキサス州の宇宙探査機設計会社、インチュアティブ・マシーンズと提携し、インチュイティブ・マシーンズの月面着陸船を利用して機器を運ぶ。ノキアによると、ネットワークは自動で通信接続し、４Ｇ／ＬＴＥ通信システムを構築する。いずれは次世代通信の５Ｇに移行させたい考え。

ネットワークを構築することで宇宙飛行士は電話や映像を使って連絡できるようになるほか、遠隔測定や生体測定のやり取りも可能になる。月面探査機やその他のロボット装置を配備、遠隔操作することもできる。

ネットワークは発射と月面着陸の過酷な状況に耐え、宇宙で稼働できるように設計される。宇宙船の厳しい積載量基準をクリアするため、極めて小型にして輸送する必要があるという。
