JAPAN - One area of aquaculture that continues to draw attention is the replacement of fishmeal and fish oil with alternative sources such as plant or soybean feed. With affordable replacement ingredients becoming increasingly important, one professor at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology is studying ways to produce what he calls "vegetarian" fish by changing the amount of taurine in their feed.
